Jack Gieck is a retired engineer. He is past-president of the Canal Society of Ohio and founder of Cinemark, Inc., a producer of technical and historical films including the award-winning video series Ohio’s Canal Era. I read this book 20 years ago getting it from a library. I am retired now and the easy going life of the canal days intrigues me so I found it on amazon at a fraction of the price, and my copy used to be an old library book too! If you are interested in Ohio Canals this is one of the must have books to fully appreciate another time in history.
Fun and informative book to read! The photos brought to life the written text. I especially liked the part of the book covering the Ohio and Erie Canal part of the Ohio Canal system
