I am a church pianist and LOVE this book. Most of these I could sight-read yet they have a lovely Mark Hayes "flair". If you need service music add this book to your collection. If you just enjoy playing at home it's a great book to just play through for pure enjoyment.
This is a great book of short church songs. They are traditional songs that the intermediate or advanced player would enjoy playing as a 2 or 3 minute interlude. I love Mark Hayes arrangements and use them just about every Sunday in my church.
When a longer piece is just to long for the service, these are great. Each piece shows how long it should generally take.
It's Mark Hayes - what else do you need to say! Everything Mark does is fantastic - his piano pieces, his coral works, etc. LOVE LOVE LOVE you Mark! For skill level - all his pieces all areas that most grade 5 and above pianists can accomplish with a little practice. If you can't make some of the runs, it's fairly easy to find a way to leave parts of them out - just don't tell Mark! Music that sounds beautiful and is fun to play!
The book does not have much selection, but the music is good.
Great collection - have already used 3 in church setting.
These pieces were definitely not miniature. I need shorter music selections for our small church.
Bought as a gift for my wife. She loves the arrangements and selections as I love hearing her play them.
